How We Built a Rainbow Balloon Arch for a Workday Movie Night in Pleasanton
Inside Out for Workday's movie night
I built a rainbow balloon arch for an employee appreciation movie night at Workday's Pleasanton meeting center on August 20, 2026. Employees could bring their kids, and they were showing Inside Out. Since the kids were coming, I thought it would be cute to have cutouts of all the characters from the movie.

The Workday logo was already on the wall, so that became the middle of the backdrop. The balloons went around the illuminated name, with the characters across the two sides and above it. Keeping the name readable also mattered for the Queen's Bench balloon backdrop in San Jose, where the balloons framed a branded sign instead of an existing wall logo.
I prepared all the balloons ahead of time, and then we installed the setup in front of the Workday logo. With the balloons standing, I could start placing the cutouts and adding the smaller details.

Adding the characters
There were five printed character cutouts. Two were standees on black floor bases, and three were set into the balloons. The green cutout took a few moves. I held it against the matching balloons, tried the placement and moved it before securing it. That placement work happened on site, with the balloons already standing against the wall.

After the characters were in place, I added small multicolor balloon clusters at the sides and near the top to fill the gaps. I also worked a strand of little yellow balloons through the setup.

A nearby screen welcomed people to Movie Nights. The company name was still visible between the characters once the finishing pieces were in place.

Planning a themed office event
If you're planning something similar, start with the theme and the actual place the setup will go. A photo of the room or wall, along with the movie you have in mind, is more useful than choosing balloons in isolation. This job had an existing company logo and a specific movie, so the backdrop could bring those two things together.
Include enough of the room in your photo to show what is beside the logo, not just a close view of the lettering. That keeps the conversation about the whole space and where the characters might fit. If you want to use an existing wall, say so, rather than sending only a picture of a freestanding backdrop you like.
Think about who the event is for as part of that same conversation. Here, the children being invited was the reason I chose the character cutouts. For your event, tell us whether it's for employees, their families or another group, rather than assuming every company event needs the same decor.
Book two weeks to a month ahead. Our balloon arch options are a starting point for that conversation, not a requirement to copy this exact movie setup.
Balloon arches range from $450 to $650 depending on size.
