How We Set Up Marquee Letters with Balloon Clusters for NVIDIA Hardware Fest
Balloon clusters for NVIDIA Hardware Fest in Santa Clara
On Friday, October 23, we set up marquee letters with balloons for NVIDIA Hardware Fest at NVIDIA headquarters in Santa Clara, and we handled the whole setup, the 2026 HW FEST letters and the balloon clusters. NVIDIA worked directly with us, and Oscar of Event Props brought the letters as part of our setup. Vendors had one unload window, and driving our 15 foot box truck up the campus ramp meant backing it down after, which terrified me. So I ran everything up the ramp myself, and I did not get any video of it because I was going so fast. Everything went great.
How balloon clusters attach to marquee letters
Balloon clusters go onto the marquee letters themselves. We build the balloon clusters first, then attach them to the letters with clamps and 260 balloons, the long skinny twisting balloons, along the tops, sides and open letter shapes so every character still reads. On a stacked block like this, the work starts at the base and moves up, and a step ladder is how we reach the top row without leaning on the bulbs.
On this job we stood the letters outdoors in two rows, with 2026 on top and HW FEST below. Oscar of Event Props brought the letters for our setup and helped lift the top numbers into place. I stayed on the balloon clusters, starting low, then climbing the step ladder for the top of the year. We used about 500 balloons in all and kept adding until the whole block read as one piece.

Matching the Hardware Fest colors
The balloon clusters were lime, black and chrome, with star foil balloons tucked in for texture. In the finished photos the shiny metal balloons pick up the glass building and the sky, and the darkest balloons sit hard against the white letter faces so the year and HW FEST still read clean.
Building the balloon clusters on site
We always bring extra balloons to make a marquee letter install fuller, and on this job we added some at no charge so the setup looked full. Setup took about 3 hours.
Step 1. Working around a shifted campus arrival
Vendors could only unload at a certain time, and our arrival window shifted that morning. My husband Kyle and I ended up bringing two of our kids along, our six and a half year old and our two and a half year old. We unloaded the balloons first, then Kyle took the kids so I could stay and attach the balloon clusters. When you run a family business, some Fridays look like that.
Step 2. Building for an engineer's vision
The person who booked us is not an event planner. He is a hardware software engineer, and he had quite the vision for how the letters should feel for Hardware Fest. We built the balloon clusters dense enough to photograph well against the glass building behind them. They are so happy with it.

Step 3. Filling the letters from the ground up
With the letters in place, I worked along the base and the mid height first. Each balloon cluster went on so the next one could tuck against it, and thin gaps next to a letter edge got the extra balloons first because those show in photos.
Step 4. Up the ladder for the top of 2026
The year sat on top of HW FEST, so the upper balloon clusters needed a step ladder. From there I could reach the tops of the numbers and drop balloon clusters into the open shapes without leaning on the bulbs.

Step 5. One more pass to make it fuller
Before we called it done, I walked the whole block and added more balloon clusters wherever the letters looked thin. That is what the extra balloons are for, and we do this on every marquee letter job.

The reveal
By the time we wrapped, the 2026 HW FEST letters sat on the campus plaza wrapped in balloon clusters from the ground to the top of the year. Then we headed to our other Friday job.

Planning corporate event balloon decor on a campus
Confirm the letter vendor. We coordinate marquee letters as part of our setup, and Oscar of Event Props brought these. Align on who delivers the letters and when they arrive relative to our install window.
Ask about campus access early. Big campuses often need paperwork, a timed unload and a specific route for a box truck. Build that into the schedule so the balloon work is not rushed.
Plan the load in for height. Tall letters need a step ladder and enough open space beside them to work safely.
Pack more balloons than the first layout. Corporate event decorations on marquee letters always look thinner in person than on a sketch, so we bring extra balloons on purpose.
Cost. Custom installs start at $650 and vary with the size of the setup. Our latex balloons are biodegradable, and our corporate events page has more campus and brand installs.
Marquee letters with balloons FAQs
How do you attach balloons to marquee letters?
We build balloon clusters and attach them to the letters with clamps and 260 balloons, the long skinny twisting balloons, along the tops, sides and open letter shapes. Work starts at the base and moves up, a step ladder reaches the top row, and we keep adding until the block looks full and every letter still reads clearly.
Can you set up balloon clusters with rented marquee letters?
Yes. We regularly coordinate marquee letters as part of our setup, the way Oscar of Event Props brought these for NVIDIA. We just need the letters standing before we start the balloon clusters.
How long does it take to set up?
It depends on letter count and height. Setup took about 3 hours, and we needed all the time we could get because the arrival window had shifted. Campus unload rules often take as much planning as the balloons.
How much does it cost?
Custom installs start at $650 and vary with the size of the setup. When we supply the marquee letters ourselves, each letter or number is $75 plus the balloons on it. Oscar of Event Props brought the letters for our setup on this job. See corporate event balloon decor for examples and next steps.
