A professionally installed balloon arch usually costs $250 to $1,000 or more in 2026, according to CV Linens, and Fash's cost guide puts most balloon arches at $150 to $1,200, which works out to roughly $10 to $30 per linear foot. Where your balloon arch lands in that range depends mostly on its size, its style and what the company includes in the price.
I'm Karlie Vamvouris, and I run Poptastic Parties, a balloon decor studio in Pleasanton, California. For this guide I gathered published prices from studios and cost guides around the country, then checked them against our own price list and a year of invoices from jobs across the Bay Area, so you can see both what the market quotes and what real clients paid. Our grab and go balloon garlands start at $150, and our custom installs start at $650 and vary with the size of the setup. Most of the balloon arches we installed over the past year came to about $1,000 to $1,200 with tax, including design, delivery, setup and cleanup.
Balloon arch or balloon backdrop: what's the difference?
People often use these two names for the same thing, but they're different setups with different prices. A balloon arch is a freestanding structure built on its own frame with weighted bases, so guests can walk through it or stand under it, and it can go almost anywhere, from a front entrance to the middle of a lawn. A balloon backdrop is a flat panel that sits behind a dessert table, a stage or a photo spot, usually framed by a balloon garland and often finished with a sign. A balloon wall goes one step further and covers the whole panel in balloons. If you're asking for quotes, using the right name helps you compare like with like.

BalloonBuilder Academy writes its ranges for decorators setting their own prices, and several of the other sources are individual studios in cities from Los Angeles to Boston, so treat every figure as a guide rather than a quote.

How much does a balloon arch cost by size and type?

Balloon arch prices climb with size, because a wider span needs more balloons, a sturdier frame and more hours to build. Studios quote size in two ways, either by width and height or by the total length of balloons along the curve, so it's worth checking which one a quote uses before you compare.
| Balloon arch | Published price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Half or demi balloon arch (10 to 15 ft of balloons) | $200 to $500 | BalloonBuilder Academy |
| Freestanding demi balloon arch, 7 by 4 ft or 8 by 6 ft | $350 or $450 | Utah Balloon Creations |
| 8 ft classic spiral balloon arch | $250 to $450 | BalloonBuilder Academy |
| 8 ft organic balloon arch | $400 to $700 | BalloonBuilder Academy |
| 10 by 10 ft balloon arch | from $500 classic, from about $800 organic | WOW! Balloons (Boston) |
| 12 by 12 ft balloon arch | $450 classic, $625 organic | Utah Balloon Creations |
| Door balloon arch (20 to 25 ft of balloons) | $200 to $750 | Fash |
| Oversized balloon arch (30 to 40 ft of balloons) | $300 to $1,200 | Fash |
| Large organic balloon arch (30 ft or more of balloons) | $900 to $2,000 or more | BalloonBuilder Academy |

Organic vs classic balloon arch
An organic balloon arch mixes balloon sizes for a full, flowing look, while a classic balloon arch repeats one size in a tidy spiral. Organic designs usually cost more at the same size because they use far more balloons. BalloonBuilder Academy counts about 500 to 800 balloons for a 20 ft organic balloon garland against 200 to 280 for a classic spiral of similar length, and WOW! Balloons prices its organic 10 by 10 ft balloon arch about $300 above its classic one.
Freestanding or doorway: which one fits your space?
A freestanding balloon arch stands on its own frame with weighted bases, so it can go almost anywhere. A balloon garland attached to a doorway, a staircase or a mantel skips the frame and its bases, so there is less hardware to bring and set up. Outdoor balloon arches also need heavier anchoring, and Fash lists outdoor setup fees of $50 to $350.
At our studio, most balloon arches over the past year came to about $1,000 to $1,200 with tax, for sizes that ranged from an 8 by 8 ft balloon arch to standard walk through balloon arches about 12 to 15 ft wide, and you can see more examples on our custom balloon arches page.
How much does a balloon garland cost?

Most studios price balloon garlands by the linear foot. Alina Balloon in Los Angeles groups its 2026 rates into basic balloon garlands at $15 to $25 per foot, standard organic balloon garlands at $25 to $45 per foot and dense, premium balloon garlands at $45 to $75 per foot, while Balloon Concierge quotes $25 to $45 per foot and BalloonBuilder Academy suggests $25 to $35.
| Balloon garland length | Published example | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 6 ft | from $150 | Fashion Balloons (Maryland) |
| 7 ft, setup included | $175 to $300 | Balloon Concierge (Los Angeles) |
| 8 ft | from $200 | Fashion Balloons (Maryland) |
| 10 ft | $250 to $350 | BalloonBuilder Academy |
| 12 ft | $300 | Utah Balloon Creations |
| 18 ft | $510 | Utah Balloon Creations |
| 20 ft | $500 to $700 | BalloonBuilder Academy |
| 24 ft | $720 | Utah Balloon Creations |
Read per foot prices carefully, because they rarely cover getting the balloon garland to your venue. Alina Balloon notes that delivery often adds $125 to $350, installation $50 to $200 and breakdown $50 to $150 when they're charged separately, and in its own example a 10 ft balloon garland quoted at $35 per foot comes to about $800 once those services are added.

A grab and go balloon garland skips most of those fees, because it comes to you assembled and you hang it yourself. Fashion Balloons lists grab and go balloon garlands from $180, and ours run $150 to $250 for pickup at our studio. Larger balloon garlands that we design and install on site are custom installs, which start at $650 and vary with the size of the setup. See our balloon garlands for examples.
What a balloon backdrop costs

A balloon backdrop is a flat panel behind a table, a stage or a photo spot, finished with a balloon garland and often a sign or custom vinyl. Balloon Concierge lists balloon backdrop walls in Los Angeles at $450 to $1,200 or more, and Utah Balloon Creations rents a 7 by 7 ft shimmer panel balloon backdrop for $875, so the panel, the sign and the fullness of the balloon garland all move the price.
Balloon backdrops are one of the setups we build most often, and ours run $750 to $1,300, including install and cleanup. You can browse finished pieces on our balloon backdrops page.
Balloon wall prices

A balloon wall covers a whole frame in balloons, commonly about 8 by 8 ft, instead of framing a panel. BalloonBuilder Academy puts an organic 8 by 8 ft balloon wall at $400 to $1,000 or more and notes that a standard balloon wall uses 200 to 600 or more balloons, so the pattern and fullness matter as much as the size.
Because a balloon wall uses far more balloons and build time than a framed panel, ours run $1,300 to $3,000, including install and cleanup.
How much balloon columns cost

Balloon columns are usually sold in pairs to frame an entrance or a stage, and they're the simplest balloon decor piece to build. BalloonBuilder Academy puts a 6 to 8 ft classic balloon column at $100 to $300, or $180 to $500 for a pair, and Balloon Concierge lists a pair of 8 ft balloon columns at $200 to $400. Height and style change the price quickly, since WOW! Balloons prices a standard balloon column up to 10 ft at about $200 and an organic balloon column of the same height at up to $700.
Our grab and go balloon columns run $150 to $225 per column for pickup, and balloon columns that are part of a larger installed setup fall under our custom installs, which start at $650. You can see examples on our balloon columns page.
Balloon drop pricing

A balloon drop holds balloons in a net overhead and releases them on cue, so the price follows the net size, the balloon count and the ceiling. Balloons by Tommy in the Chicago area lists a 15 ft balloon drop with about 140 balloons at $350, a 25 ft balloon drop with about 500 balloons at $925 and a 50 ft balloon drop with about 1,000 balloons at $1,675, before tax and delivery. Volunteer Balloons in Knoxville starts a 30 ft balloon drop with about 1,000 balloons at $1,179 plus tax and notes that a lift or an extra tall ladder adds cost for ceilings over 17 ft.
We quote balloon drops per project, because the rigging depends on the ceiling and the venue's rules. Details are on our balloon drops page.
Balloon sculpture prices

Balloon sculptures are priced by size and detail. Today's Balloons in Fort Worth lists a 3 ft balloon sculpture from $250, a 4 ft balloon sculpture from $350, a 5 to 6 ft balloon sculpture from $650 and a 7 ft balloon sculpture from $750.
We quote larger builds per project, and our Golden Gate Bridge balloon sculpture shows why: it stood 12.5 ft tall and 22 ft long, used over 2,000 balloons and took about 20 hours of work. See how we built it, or visit our balloon sculptures page.
Balloon decor add ons and extra fees

Our own quotes bundle more of this into one number. Our balloon arch quotes include design, delivery, setup and cleanup, our balloon backdrop and balloon wall prices include install and cleanup, and on custom installs the install and cleanup portion usually runs $300 to $400. Delivery for grab and go orders is $100 to $150, and pickup at our Pleasanton studio is free. On our balloon backdrop quotes, custom vinyl has usually added about $50 to $75 and florals about $50 to $100.
What changes the price
Across every guide we read, the same handful of things set the final number. Size comes first, since a larger balloon arch or a longer balloon garland needs more balloons and more hours, and design comes next, because mixed balloon sizes, chrome, foil, florals, marquee letters and vinyl all add materials and build time. After that it comes down to logistics, such as how far the venue is from the studio, whether a team installs the piece or you hang it yourself, how tight the setup window is, and whether the event is outdoors, where wind and heat call for heavier anchoring.
Timing also affects how long your decor looks its best. Indoors, away from heat and direct sun, a balloon arch or balloon garland usually lasts about three weeks to a month, while outdoors you should plan on a couple of days.
Real jobs and what clients paid
These totals come from our own invoices over the past year. They're rounded and include sales tax, plus the card fee where the client paid by card.
| Job | City | Setup | Total paid |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home party | Danville | 6 ft grab and go balloon garland, picked up at the studio | about $170 |
| Company event | Livermore | 8 by 8 ft balloon arch with delivery and install | about $740 |
| Company launch party | Pleasanton | Balloon arch with five balloon clouds, installed | about $1,360 |
| Company event | Santa Clara | 30 ft balloon garland on marquee letters and numbers, installed | about $2,040 |
| City Fourth of July event | Bay Area | Several balloon arches and balloon columns | about $4,950 |
For a homecoming in Pleasanton, we set up a 30 ft balloon arch with HOCO 2026 marquee letters on an open lawn, starting at 3 PM with guests due at 5. When the wind kept catching it, we pulled the six sandbags, turned the balloon arch out of the wind and weighted it again, which is the kind of work an outdoor install fee pays for. Read the homecoming story.
One grab and go client wrote: "We did a 10’ grab and go, delivered to our home. Setup was super easy and she provides a helpful video and tools to hang it up."

Questions people ask before booking balloon decor
How much does a balloon arch cost?
Published 2026 guides put a professionally installed balloon arch at about $250 to $1,000 or more. At our Bay Area studio, custom installs start at $650, and most balloon arches came to about $1,000 to $1,200 with tax.
How much does a balloon garland cost per foot?
Most studios charge about $25 to $45 per foot for an organic balloon garland, with basic balloon garlands as low as $15 per foot and dense, premium designs up to $75, and delivery, setup and teardown may be added on top.
Is it cheaper to make your own balloon arch?
It can cost less, but it takes hours of building, hanging and cleanup. A grab and go balloon garland is the easy middle option, because it arrives assembled and you only need to hang it.
How long does a balloon arch last?
Indoors, away from heat and direct sun, a balloon arch or balloon garland usually lasts about three weeks to a month, and outdoors you should plan on a couple of days. One of our grab and go clients told us: "20 days later the balloons are actually still inflated and up on the wall."
Can I set up a balloon arch the day before?
Indoors, usually yes. One grab and go client wrote: "We collected it two days prior to our event and the balloons stayed intact even after two days." For outdoor events we set up on the day, because sun and wind shorten balloon life.
How can I save money on balloon decor?
Choose a half balloon arch or a balloon garland instead of a full freestanding balloon arch, stick to standard latex rather than chrome or foil, pick up a grab and go balloon garland instead of paying for delivery and setup, and book early so you avoid rush fees.
How far ahead should I book?
We recommend booking three weeks to a month ahead. Large installs and venues with strict access rules may need more time, and we'll always tell you what's possible on a short timeline.
How we priced this guide
Market figures come from published price guides and price lists we reviewed in October 2026: CV Linens (2025, updated 2026), Fash (2024), BalloonBuilder Academy (2026), Balloon HQ (2024), Balloon Concierge (2026), Alina Balloon (2026), WOW! Balloons, Utah Balloon Creations, Fashion Balloons, Balloons by Tommy (2025), Volunteer Balloons (2026), Today's Balloons, Witty's Rentals, HSV Lights, The Stylish Balloon and Foto Vibe. Most of them list prices before tax, and several are single studios, so we show their numbers as examples rather than averages.
Our own prices come from our current price list, reviewed in October 2026, and our real job totals come from a year of Poptastic Parties invoices, October 2025 to October 2026. For the invoice figures we grouped jobs by setup where we could confirm what was built, used the middle half of each group, rounded the numbers and left out tips, refunds and test invoices. Those totals include sales tax and our 3% card fee when a client paid by card, and we'll review these prices every few months.
